So this weekend I went to California, San Francisco to be exact. That's apparently a really american phrase. Day 1(Friday Sept. 2):My flight was at 9 on friday so I had to leave here at 6:15. My flight was on time and my mom got all emotional, I've never flown by myself before. Once I got on the plane I felt more at ease.
The guy I was sitting next to was from Willmar, where I used to live. He works at the same place that my dad used to work at. He was mexican and we spoke Spanish to each other. I got to California in one piece, despite the fact that I was flying Northwest. Almost as soon as I got on the plane, there was Anne waiting for me. I didn't recognize her for about 2 seconds and then I ran up and gave her a Stor klemmer(norweigian for a big hug). We walked around the airport a bit to try to find the Bart(air train). We learned that if you look really lost someone will eventually come and ask if you need help. We finally found the Bart and hopped on. I honestly didn't know what to feel. I was basically on my own with Anne of Australia. I was happy and scared and just overwhelmed. We rode the Bart for a good 20 minutes and then got off and walked to our hotel. It was the nicest hotel i have ever been to. They had actual keys for the doors. Not just a stupid card that loses magnetisn really easily. By that time it was 2 or so and we decided to get something to eat. We visited a grocery store down the block that had the most amazing blueberries I've ever tasted. Anne only eats raw food so we bought a bunch of fruit and took it to Union Square and had lunch. Right across the street from where we were was the Macy's store and on the top floor is the cheesecake factory. We went up there and got some amazing pictures of the city. Then we headed back to our hotel room and decided what to do next. We decided to take a walk to chinatown. It was a pretty good walk and saw a bunch of cute parks, some beautiful cathedrals and lots of chinesse people. We stoped at this one tea shop that was having free tea samplings. I don't think I like tea but I had to try anyway. They had like 3 places where they killed the chickens in front of you and I was only slightly disturbed. Then I decided that I was hungry so we agreed to go back and we stopped at this funky 50s style diner called Lori's. I had a meatloaf sandwich while anne sipped her "herbal" tea. Inside the diner they had a 59 Edsel so of course we took pictures and then headed back to the hotel. How do you make a salad with no plates? Make it into fingerfood. Anne made lovely little sandwiches with lettuce, avacado, and capsicon(red pepper). The hotel had a computor so we went online for a while and then went back upstairs. by that time it was 8:30 so Anne took a bath and I listened to my iPod for a while and went to sleep.
Day 2(Saturday Sept. 3): I woke up at 8:00, Anne and I had to share a queen size bed, and she had been up since 6:30, she still had jetlag. We went to another hotel that had exercise room. It felt good to get some exercise in. We got back to the hotel at 10 i showered and we were off to the golden gate bridge. We took one of the busses. We met some people that had lived in San Francisco for 6 years and had never seen the bridge. It was areally cloudy day so you couldn't see the top. We took lots of pictures and walked almost all the way across and walked back. When we were done at the bridge we caught the bus again and went to lombard street. Yes it's the crookedest street but we stoped at a restaurant first. It was called Alive. They only served raw food there. When we walked in, the waitress asked if we wanted to sit in the zen garden. We tried the zen garden but it was too cold so we opted to sit inside. We got the menus and they served almond milk and raw pizza.........
I'm going to leave the rest to your imagination for right now cuz i need a shower real bad but I will finish about my california adventure later.
